The proposal is to provide, fabricate, transport and deliver four high-speed Post Panamax shore-based container handling gantry cranes to Kingston, Jamaica.
This forms part of the Authority's plan to undertake a fourth phase of expansion and upgrading of the Terminal, which will include retrofitting and modernisation of the North Terminal, the original component of the Container Terminal which is 26 years old. Proposals have already been invited from qualified local and international engineering firms for the development.
Super Post Panamax cranes, similar to those at the South Terminal, will replace the existing cranes at the terminal.
The Port Authority of Jamaica has indicated that tender documents will be available 'only' to crane manufacturers as of March 17, 2003 from the Operations and Development Division, first floor of Port Authority of Jamaica 15-17 Duke Street, Kingston at a cost of US$200 (J$11,000). Firms submitting responses without prior purchase of the tender document will not be considered. The tender bids must be returned and deposited by 12:00 noon, May 2, 2003.
