Side-tracked by the war

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE STRONG influence of the international media has led to a preoccupation with the "Iraqi War" . While we must pay attention to it, we cannot do so to the detriment of important local issues.

The Budget is about to be read, and this year it demands our undivided attention because of the current situation. The situation, I believe, has been best summed up by Peter Tosh's song, 'The day the dollar died ' where he states,

"Bills and budgets are waiting, finance ministers anticipating, unemployment is rising and I hear my people, they are crying... the dollar is dying.."

Some have predicted miraculous growth, others, imminent doom. As citizens we cannot afford to be side-tracked because we may not have a second chance this time around.
