THE WELLNESS Handbook - Your Guide to Healthy Living, co-written by Winston Davidson, Violet Wright and Henry Lowe, was launched at the Eden Gardens on Lady Musgrave Road on Saturday.

The book is intended as a guide for everyday living. It has chapters that focus on all aspects of a healthy lifestyle; eating healthy, exercise and stress management. Members of the medical and health sector, who were present, lauded the book for being timely and relevant. Nigel Logan, from the Ministry of Health, described the book as "an insightful publication," while president and CEO of Blue Cross Jamaica, Richard Powell, said the book makes bold and definitive statements on the importance of healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Peter Figueroa, head of the Epidemiology and AIDS section of the Ministry of Health, said that "this book comes at the right time". He noted that it is flexible, recognising different lifestyles; it is knowledgeable, and it is practical with exercise routines, quizzes and charts empowering and encouraging individuals to set personal goals.

In what she described as her attempt at singing, Noreen Greenwood did a very good rendition of Whitney Houston's 'Miracles'. Her powerful voice filled with emotion mastered note after note. At the end of the formal proceedings, a very appreciative audience was again entertained with her performance of 'To God be the Glory'.
