BOSS FURNITURE has been awarded the exclusive contract to produce Simmons beds in Jamaica, according to a BOSS release.
The BOSS-produced bedding systems will be distributed in Jamaica and across the region, the release said. BOSS is the largest upholstery and bedding manufacturer in the English-speaking Caribbean.
Haberdasher Labeeb Azan, proprietor of BOSS Furniture, started manufacturing furniture over four years ago. Based on Church Street in downtown Kingston, Mr. Azan started supplying beds and sofas to the island's largest chain of furniture stores, Courts Jamaica.
EXPANDED PRODUCTION
From an initial six workers, the company expanded to a staff of more than 200, manufacturing the Fraenkel line of bedding, which Courts formerly imported from New Orleans in the United States. From a single sofa produced on a test basis years ago, BOSS expanded to the production of several lines of bedding, sofas and sofa beds for Courts.
Simmons Company was founded in 1870 in the United States and is one of the world's largest bedding manufacturers worldwide with sales of more than US$1 billion. The Atlanta-based company operates 19 manufacturing plants throughout the United States and Puerto Rico with several manufacturing franchises worldwide.
A new factory with 50,000 square feet of space will open in another three months to produce the furniture here in Jamaica, the release said.
Directors of BOSS are Emile Azan, Dominic Azan, Omar Azan, Labeeb Azan, Paula Azan and company secretary Trevor Blake.
