TWO OF three men, who the police say invaded the Alexandria Police Station in southwestern St. Ann yesterday morning and attacked a police constable on duty, were shot, one fatally.
The two have not been named but The Gleaner was told that they are from Central Village, south central St. Catherine.
According to police reports, about 12:30, three men travelling in a white Toyota Corolla motor car stopped and knock on the door of the Alexandria Police Station which was closed.
A police constable answered the door and was told by two men that they had come to report a robbery.
SHOCK OF HIS LIFE
The policeman got the shock of his life when one of the men held on to him while the other pointed a gun in his direction. The policeman wrested himself from the men and shot at them with his service revolver.
The men ran from the station to the waiting car where one fell. The other two boarded the vehicle while firing back at the police.
When the shooting ended, one of the gunmen was found lying on the road with bullet wounds. The police also recovered a home-made shotgun with two cartridges.
Later, another man believed to be one of the attackers, was taken to the station by residents. He was suffering from gunshot wounds.
The police took both injured men to the St. Ann's Bay Hospital where one was pronounced dead and the other admitted under police guard.
