Whither the San San Beach
published: Wednesday | April 30, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

SEVERAL YEARS ago, the most popular bathing beach in Portland was San San Beach. Now it is mostly deserted with the perception being that it has been privatised for the benefit of a privileged few. Now the Port Authority, as part of its marina improvement project, has for over a year fenced off the only public beach in Port Antonio.

It would be a good public relations gesture on the part of the Port Authority to inform the local citizenry as to when they will be able to access this once popular family beach again.

Otherwise, I fear the perception in the town will continue to grow that these much lauded "improvements" benefit only a few at the expense of the "little man".

Over to you, Mr. Hylton

I am, etc.,

MICHAEL O'DONNELL

11 Love Lane

Port Antonio
