Management of accidents
published: Friday | May 2, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

DID YOU notice the news coverage of the car accident that occurred at the intersection of Half-Way Tree Road and Maxfield Avenue during last weekend? Well, my concern is really the response that was given at the scene of the accident. The response that was made by the police and the firemen.

The lady who was taken from the damaged vehicle was not even placed on a decent stretcher, she was carried in the hands of a group of supporters even though the police who are paid to protect and to serve were present. She was even transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, not an ambulance. This private car rushing to a hospital could have caused another more serious accident on the way.

I think that the response should be critically analysed by the authorities to improve the situation.

I am, etc.,
