Protecting kids from the 'blues'
published: Friday | May 2, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM a concerned teenager living in the Montego Bay area. A cable company here has been providing an explicit sex channel to its customers. To get access to this station, customers have to pay a fee, followed by which they are provided with a code.

But it has come to my attention that some minors have beaten the system by entering a universal code. Now they have unstoppable access to explicit and downright nasty material for which they are not yet ready.

I am appealing to the cable company to pay attention to this matter and fix it as soon as possible because the future of the youth is at stake. I also request parents not to order this station at any cost. Please refrain from it and keep a constant watch on your kids late at nights. They might be doing more than 'studying'.

I am, etc.,

BEN STYLER
