THE EDITOR, Sir:
A VISIT to the National Gallery of Jamaica will reveal a bust of Sir Alexander Bustamante proudly displayed in the foyer.
Contrastingly, a smaller bust of Norman Manley is displayed behind a column in the reading room, along with busts of Sir Donald Sangster and the founder of the Jamaica Burial Scheme Society, a Mr. Mowatt.
I find the situation most insulting to the memory of that great National Hero, Norman Washington Manley, and am, therefore, forced to pose the following questions:
1. What disqualifies Norman Manley from equal treatment with Bustamante?
2. If these two heroes are honoured with busts in the National Gallery, why not the others?
This situation should be corrected as soon as possible and I am demanding of the Minister of Education, Youth and Culture that she give immediate orders for the situation to be corrected.
I am, etc.,
OSWALD SEYMOUR
