Jamaica 4-H clubs on show at Denbigh
published: Saturday | May 3, 2003

OVER 250 clubbites from the Jamaica 4-H Clubs have been exhibiting their skills and wit against each other since yesterday at the Jamaica 4-H Clubs' National Achievement Day exercise at the Denbigh Show Ground which ends today.

The show, which is the premier competitive event on the
4-H calendar, is expected to attract thousands of patrons. Last year, it welcomed approximately 7,000 patrons. This year, it is anticipated that that number will be doubled.

Clubbites will compete in
20 events in the areas of agriculture, home economics, environment, social and leadership skills.

Today will feature the Closing Ceremony and Prize Giving Exercise. Guest Speaker will be Minister of Agriculture, Roger Clarke, while brief greetings will be brought by MP for Central Clarendon, Mike Henry and Executive Chairman of the UGI Group and 4-H Clubs National Patron, Mr. Neville Blythe. It will be chaired by Chairman of the Jamaica 4-H Clubs, Senator Norman Grant.

There will also be a special entertainment package for the children, including Bounce-a-bout, simulator, Ferris wheel and a mini zoo, while special guest artistes will be the Fabulous Five Band and 4-H talents.

National Achievement Day 2003 is sponsored by RBTT Jamaica, Power 106 FM, Antilles Chemical Company, Coffee, Cake & Ice Cream and Island Farm Supplies.
