THE GLEANER Company Ltd. will be adjusting the cover prices of its publications due to the imposition of General Consumption Tax (GCT) on newspapers.
This increase is also due to rising production costs as a result of the depreciation in the value of the Jamaican dollar against its US counterpart and the new cess imposed by the Government, which will result in a four per cent pre-payment on the company's income tax liability.
Effective Sunday, May 4, the price of The Sunday Gleaner will be $40. The Daily Gleaner moves to $18 as of Monday, May 5. These prices include GCT.
We will continue to produce newspapers of the highest quality for our readers and advertisers.
