The JTB rut
published: Sunday | May 4, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WITH REGARD to the closure of Jamaica Tourist Board offices in major cities as reported in The Gleaner on April 28, I found it unrealistic. The Tourist Board is a major information body for our country and offices in major cities such as New York and Los Angeles in the United States; Rome, Italy; London, United Kingdom; Toronto, Canada and Paris, France should remain open.

To cut costs some of these offices could, and should operate out of the Jamaican Consulate if there is one in that city. I agree that our country is in serious money problems and cutting cost is a major concern at this time; but we must map out our strategies, learn to work with each other and come up with better ideas and solutions to take our country out of the rut it is in.

This in not the time when we keep on blaming the PNP, JLP, NDM and other political bodies, we must put "our country first". Jamaica belongs to all of us so "get on board" and do something. In the long run we will all come up winners.

I am, etc.,
