TO MOM WITH LOVE... The Isley Brothers
published: Monday | May 5, 2003

"IT'S OUR 40th anniversary and we wanted to make a record that was worthy of our entire career," says pop legend Ronald Isley of Eternal, the new album for the Isley Brothers, featuring Ronald Isley a.k.a. Mr. Biggs. (Mr. Biggs is the alter ego Isley established in videos for R. Kelly and Kelly Price). We're at a point in our lives where we're doing the best work, we've ever done - this is The Isley Brothers Super Bowl Record."

In fact, Eternal (released August 7, 2001, on Dream Works Records) boasts an all-star line-up of contributors including R. Kelly (who produced, wrote and arranged first radio track Contagious); Gill Scott (who co-wrote and performs on Said Enough); Jimmy Jam and Troy Lewis (who co-wrote and produced You're All I Need, co-wrote and co-produced Settle Down and Eternal, and co-produced If You Leave Me Now and think) Raphael Saadiq (of Lucy Pearl and Tony! Tony! Tony!), who co-wrote and co-produced Move Your Body, You Deserve Better and Just Like This and co-wrote and produced Secret Lover) and R&B singer/songwriter Avant (who co-wrote Secret Lover).

Keeping it in the family, Isley's wife Anjela Winbush, also lent her skills to the mix (co-writing Move Your Body and co-produced Warm Summer Night).

Everyone involved with the record knew on thing coming in: Ernie (Isley) and I wanted their best," reveals Isley. And that's just what they gave you. We all had something to prove to each other and ourselves. We accomplished our goals, and the process was truly inspirational.
