C/Spring Rd traffic changes now in effect
published: Monday | May 5, 2003

AS ROAD expansion works continue on Constant Spring Road, a new traffic system takes effect today along the section between the Dunrobin Avenue and West Kings House Road junctures.

The newly constructed bridge across the Sandy Gully will be opened to motorists to facilitate north-bound traffic, the National Works Agency (NWA) an-nounced at the weekend. In addition, motorists will now be able to turn right onto Constant Spring Road from West Kings House Road. Previously only left turns were allowed.

The new traffic regulations also prohibit motorists from turning right off Eastwood Park Road onto West Kings House Road.

REDUCE CONGESTION

The NWA, in a release, said "the changes are in keeping with expansion works carried out along Constant Spring Road, between the Eastwood Park Road and Dunrobin Avenue intersections to improve traffic management along that corridor."

The improvements include the widening of the roadway between both intersections and construction of a new two-lane bridge across the Sandy Gully to facilitate north-bound traffic.

NEW MEDIANS

Under the new traffic system, no right turn will be allowed off Constant Spring Road into the Market Place shopping complex. This is to facilitate the construction of a median which will divide the roadway from the Sandy Gully bridge to the Eastwood Park Road intersection. A similar median is to be constructed between the bridge's northern approach and the Dunrobin intersection which will facilitate right turns onto Gore Terrace in the vicinity of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

"This should significantly ease the heavy, weekday afternoon traffic that normally builds up along Waterloo Road and South Avenue," the NWA said.
