Proper landscaping is a must
published: Sunday | May 11, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WONDER if everyone is noticing how hot Jamaica has become? One could blame it on changes in climatic conditions etc., but doesn't it have more to do with the denuding of our country?

Who is responsible when someone constructs a shopping plaza? Is there anyone to advise these business people that proper landscaping is a must?

Trees are usually cut down to accommodate these concrete structures; then when they are completed one sees the stark concrete with here and there a few low-growing flowers.

Proper landscaping needs to be done in these areas to break the monotony of the concrete to give a breath of fresh air and some shade, to please the eye and help us to enjoy nature even in a shopping environment.

I am, etc.,

ORLEAN MONTAQUE

Southfield
