All for J'can entry permits
published: Monday | May 12, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

This is an open letter to the Government of Jamaica and to those who may share my view.

THE BRITISH, American, and Canadian Embassies are charging fees to process visas for those who may wish to visit their countries. These processing fees all add up to millions of dollars at the end of the year.

It is my opinion that the Government of Jamaica should introduce a Entry Permit for those who wish to visit our shores and charge a fee, not just from the three countries mentioned above but from all those countries that require visas or entry permit from Jamaicans. US$100 should be the amount charged for processing.

Can you imagine the amount of needed cash the country would have in its purse? I don't know about you but I can see the benefit from such a policy.

I am, etc.

PETER D.M.
