Clarification
published: Wednesday | May 14, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I TAKE this opportunity to reply to an article appearing in the Monday edition of your newspaper dated April 28, 2003, entitled 'St Thomas family living on the edge'.

In this article, your reporter states, "when contacted last Thursday, NWA's Community Relations Officer for St. Thomas, Collin Morrison, promised to provide an update on the situation, after consulting with an NWA engineer with responsibility for river training. However, he has not done so. The Gleaner contacted Mr. Morrison on four subsequent occasions but he was still unable to address the issue."

Please allow me to clarify the allegations made:

. I first had dialogue with him on Holy Thursday April 17, regarding his investigation.

. I indicated then, that I would make contact with our River Training Officer, who would investigate and advise me on the matter.

. I subsequently informed your reporter that upon receipt of the report from the River Training Officer I would supply him with the relevant information he requested.

I am therefore surprised at the misrepresentation carried in your article.

I am, etc.,

COLIN MORRISON

Community Relations Officer

North Eastern Region

National Works Agency
