THERE HAS been an early casualty in Cable and Wireless Jamaica's current assessment of its operations and structure.
According to a CWJ release last night, George Brown, its chief information officer, yesterday "left the company". CWJ stated that his move came as a result of the assessment being undertaken by the internal specialists and consultants from accounting firm Deloitte and Touche. It has been indicated that Mr. Brown's post within the company has been eliminated.
"Given the broad scope of the review, there is an expectation that there will be further changes in organisational structure and manpower needs," the telecommunications company stated.
Errol Miller, CWJ's communications manager, disputed media reports which stated that other senior officers had left the company as a result of the restructuring. "I only know of one person leaving," he told The Gleaner prior to the issuing of the release. The review of the operations has been described as part of a larger realignment of strategy as well as a response to market imperatives.
Just last week, CWJ an-nounced that chief executive officer, Errald Miller, had resigned from the company, ending a 31-year partnership.
