PROFESSOR OF Church History and History of Religions at Andrews University, Walter Douglas, will be the guest presenter at the annual Elders' Weekend Convention to be held from May 16 - 18, 2003, at the Kencot SDA Church. The theme for the weekend will be "Empowered to Minister in a Changing World".
Douglas has had extensive pastoral experience in North America and the Caribbean. He has taught at Caribbean Union College, Trinidad and Mac Master University, Canada.
Professor Douglas has been the recipient of numerous awards including "Outstanding Young Man" in America in 1974 and "Who's Who in Religion in America" in 1975. In 1993, he received the highest award Andrews University bestows on a scholar - the "John Nevins Andrews Medallion".
The weekend starts with a service on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor M. E. Weir delivering the keynote address. On Saturday Professor Douglas will be the speaker for the Divine Hour Service, which starts at 11:00 am. A series of seminars will be the main highlight for Sunday May 18, 2003 with presentations on "Effective Leadership" and "The Elder and His Family".
