Stop the finger-pointing and complaining

THE EDITOR, Sir:
WHILE THERE are many democratic countries around the world that are experiencing difficulties, Jamaica might be among the few where 'finger-pointing' has diffused across every level of the society. Generally, a society that has for years embalmed itself with strong religious rituals, (Jamaica) has now been so badly tainted that the 'casting of stones' would result in mass suicides.
Jobs are few and word gets around fast about what Tom and Dick is doing to survive, yet alone driving a car and/or flying to Miami weekly. The case is such that the knowledge of corruption in our society is blatant. There-fore, we hope and call for scrupulous action from heroes or heroines but still Jamaicans refuse.
There are far more qualified persons in the country compared with 10 years ago yet all we have are complaints and not nightmares over active solutions. Are we a nation of short-sighted, myopic cowards where only the strong survive? What about community? Make no mistake, even though the government only responds to acts of pyromania there is no need to destroy what we have worked very hard for, but use your time to engage the public about issues that will garner their support in achieving a better tomorrow.
