Policeman murdered
published: Sunday | June 1, 2003

A POLICEMAN was shot and killed in downtown Kingston late yesterday evening. Re-ports reaching The Sunday Gleaner are that he was chased by two gunmen into an abandoned car park where he was murdered.

Up to press time last night, scores of his colleagues, including forensic experts, were at the crime scene conducting investigations.

While the name of the slain policeman could not be confirmed up to press time, The Sunday Gleaner understands that he is a Constable Camp-bell, affectionately called 'Blood' by his colleagues, and that he is attached to the Mobile Reserve Unit.

Sources said the policeman killed was chased by two men on foot into 101 Orange Street, a car park, where he was shot several times all over his body. The gunmen escaped on foot.

He is the fifth policeman to be killed by the gun since the start of the year.
