ELIZABETH secured first innings points against hosts Kingston yesterday but were at a shaky 26 for three in their second innings entering today's final day of their Jamaica Cricket Association's (JCA) Super League match at Sabina Park.
In a low-scoring match, St. Elizabeth, sent in to take first strike, were blown away for 166 with Nehemiah Perry (4-36) and Ryan Cunningham (4-57) taking most of the wickets.
In their reply of 145, Kingston, led by a top score of 77 from Nicholas Austin, faltered against off-spinners Kerron Baker (4-43) and Wayne Simpson (3-24).
Meanwhile, the fifth round was highlighted by an even hundred from Karl McDonald in St. Ann's 313 against Lucas at Kaiser. McDonald received support from Rohan McNaughton, 49, and Lincoln Edwards, 44, against the bowling of Ashuman Kentish, 4-91 and Delroy Morgan, 2-51. Lucas were 51-1 at the close.
AT SABINA PARK: Middle-order collapses were mainly responsible for both teams low score as St. Elizabeth were 70 for one in their first innings while Kingston were also in a good position at 86 for one.
AT CHEDWIN PARK: Half centuries from Anthony Folkes, 70 not out, and Wayne Cuff, 57, backed up by Kamal Dennis' five-wicket haul (5-10) put the Jamaica Defence Force in control against St. Catherine CC.
Replying to JDF's first innings total of 207, St. Catherine CC closed at a precarious 49 for eight.
AT PORT ESQUIVEL: St. Catherine CA, replying to Westmoreland's 236, closed on 57 for three with Shawn Edwards claiming 2-31.
Chris Miller and Vinard Woolcock made 39 each for Westmoreland against Colin Buchanan's 3-71 and Lloyd Rattary's 2-34.
AT MELBOURNE OVAL: The home team was finding things hard against Kensington as they were 106 for seven replying to the visitors 167.
Darren Powell, 50, and Bryan Blair, 39, top scored for Kensington against Roman Hutchinson (5-56), Nikita Miller (2-5) and Courtney Walsh (1-2).
