Salary review committee gathering information
published: Wednesday | June 4, 2003

THE PARLIAMENTARY Salary Review Committee has been meeting on a regular basis to examine the issues of the emoluments, terms and conditions of service and pensions of Parliamentarians.

A website has been established showing the current level of emoluments, allowances and reimbursables paid to Parliamentarians at the address www.parliamentarysalaries.org

A questionnaire has also been circulated to all Parliamentarians to obtain their detailed views and to date 27 questionnaires have been returned.

There will shortly be advertisements in the press restating the committee's terms of reference and inviting written submissions from the public. Those persons making submissions may be invited to meet with the committee to expand further on their views.

The committee has recently met with the Auditor-General Adrian Strachan and a representative of the governing People's National Party Youth Organisation among others.

The committee members are Oliver F. Clarke, Tony Lewars, Bishop Charles Dufour, Corrine McLarty and Las Perry with the Secretary to the Committee being Maria Walters of the Ministry of Finance. The email address for the committee is salcomm@mof.gov.jm
