SANTOS TAKE a 1-0 lead against Boys' Town in this afternoon's second leg JNBS/KSAFA Super League final at Emmet Park which starts at 3:30.
Kevon Harris gave Santos the edge with his strike, which was created by striker Fabian Nethersole, in the second half of Saturday's match at the same venue.
Santos' coach, Carlton 'Spanner' Dennis, said yesterday his team could not afford to get carried away with its edge.
"We're very confident but we don't want to get over confident. It's Boys' Town we're playing and I have all the respect for them," Dennis said.
"They're a team that knows how to win football games ... that team is going to turn it around one day so you've to be one step ahead. We're hoping that we'll be one step ahead of Boys' Town come this afternoon," he said.
Meanwhile, Dennis' opposite number, Andrew Price, is still concerned about his team's poor finishing despite being happy with Saturday's first leg.
"There's not very much to change. We've been getting the chances, we're just not converting and I think once we take our chances this afternoon we'll be able to win the Super League," Price said.
"I came out of the first leg feeling very comfortable. My team showed the type of spunk it had. We had 11 corners to Santos' one, it showed some dominance. But dominance can't only be shown by the number of corners or amount of possession but you've to convert and I think my team will be sharp and ready for this afternoon's occasion."
Dennis said Santos lost two key players because of cards. Richard Edwards, the central midfielder, and Adrian Reid are the players out.
The Santos coach noted that "for the first 45 minutes Boys' Town were more physical than us so we can't allow them to get the better of us in the first 45, today. If we want to win the game we've to push them back. We can't make them come and run us down," he said.
Price said there was not much more he could do to motivate his players.
"The only way to motivate them is to tell them to go out there and do what they do in training and that is to score goals," he said.
"The only way you win games is if you score goals and I'm very confident that come this afternoon it's going to click. We're going to see an avalanche of goals. My team is rearing to go."
