JTTA president calls national squads for duty

AFTER JUST a few days in office, newly elected Jamaica Table Tennis Association (JTTA) president Stephen Hylton has summoned all national squads to start preparation for upcoming tournaments.

On Monday, the men's squad resumed training with coach Donald Salmon at Rex Hall, UWI and will train four days per week, Mondays to Thursdays, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Sandra Riettie has assumed responsibilities for the women's, boys and girls squads training camps which have been increased from one day per week to five days per week - Mondays to Fridays, 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sabina Park.

Hylton has also persuaded former many-time national champion Riettie to join the women's squad as player/coach. The championships will be held from August 16-23, while the juniors will compete in the Junior Caribbean Championships in Guyana from July 22-27.

The players invited for training in the four squads are: Men - Christopher Marsh, Gavin Hylton, Hector Bennett, Nigel Webb, Robert Green, Darryl Strachan, Rudolph Sinclair, Rohan Schloss, Dale Parham, Odingo Mitchell; Women - Riettie, Collette Palmer, Nina Burton, Kaydian Carney, Andrea Wadsworth, Michelle Harris; Boys - Kane Watson, Andre Hart, Jason Lynch, Nicardo Clarke, Jermaine Newell, Carlington Facey; Girls - Carla Clarke, Andrene Hart, Sharlene Carr, Janelle Morris, Yvonne Foster.
