Nonsense by Dawn Ritch
published: Thursday | June 26, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM writing in response to Dawn Ritch's column, on June 22. She stated that white women are the ones who have been at the forefront of the fight for equal rights and justice for black people. I abhor such nonsense.

History is a lie agreed upon, the half has never been told. There have been many black leaders who have risen to the challenge of fighting for the rights of the black race. The fight for equal rights and justice is not a black and white fight. It may appear to be a black and white concept but it is not.

In order to effect change, different people from different races had to unite to fight against the ills of racism, sexism, segregation and exploitation. Ms. Ritch should have stated her view in a more definite context. Her column makes it seem as if there were no black leaders that carried the cross.

I am, etc.,
