HoShue to head DB&G Merchant Bank
published: Wednesday | July 2, 2003

TANYA HOSHUE, the former manager for Credit and Corporate Banking at Issa Trust and Merchant Bank (ITMB), has been appointed general manager of the merged entity that is to retain the name Dehring Bunting & Golding Merchant Bank (DB&G).

Gary Sinclair, president of DB&G, confirmed Ms. HoShue's appointment, which took effect yesterday. However, he said that although DB&G has essentially assumed management control of ITMB, they were still awaiting approval from the Ministry of Finance and Planning for the amalgamation of both banks.

DB&G recently received unconditional regulatory approval for the acquisition of ITMB, with the deal structured as an exchange of securities. It has agreed to purchase ITMB's shares but pay for it as a convertible debenture.

Mr. Sinclair said they have "more or less" paid for the shares, but up to yesterday the merchant banks remained as separate entities. Ms. HoShue has been appointed general manager of ITMB with the understanding that once approval has been granted to amalgamate the banks she will become general manager of the merged entity, DB&G Merchant Bank, he said.

Ms. HoShue told Wednesday Business she has 17 years experience in both commercial and merchant banking, having started her career at the National Commercial Bank before moving to Manufacturers Merchant Bank and then to Issa Merchant Bank.

With what she described as a capable 12-member team joining her from ITMB, Ms. HoShue said she expects to run a tight and efficient operation, and, among other things, will seek to expose the bank's clientele to the full range of products being offered, as well as a renewed emphasis on customer service. "Our objective is to make money," she said, adding, "I will endeavour to ensure that it become even a more profitable entity. Our intention is to make DB&G a force to be reckoned with."

Ms. HoShue has a BSc in Economics and Management, as well as a MBA from the University of Wales and the University of Manchester, England. She is currently involved in a dance troupe, the Company Dance Theatre and is pursuing Spanish as a second language.

She has experience in client, corporate relationship and personal banking, as well risk management and analytical skills.
