Public servants, shape up
published: Wednesday | July 2, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE an issue with how a large number of public sector workers treat the public. I want them to know that they work for the public and thus are paid by the public and therefore need to treat each member of the public with the greatest respect and regard as if they were their direct employer.

Too many times I have had bad experiences dealing with public servants. I think that maybe they should try to adopt some of the personnel, customer relations and customer service strategies that are employed elsewhere to foster more cordial relations and hence more satisfied customers, such as in the private sector.

I am, etc.,
