Weatherly called to nat'l junior golf team
published: Thursday | July 3, 2003

WESTERN BUREAU:

FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD CORNWALL College schoolboy, Dean Julian Weatherly, has been named to the national junior golf team which will represent Jamaica at the 2003 Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships, in the Bahamas, next week.

Weatherly, who will take part in the Boys 15 and under section, becomes the first player ever from the SuperClubs Ironshore Gold Club to represent the national team at these championships. He will compete along with Narada Black and Mathew Lee.

The championships will be held July 8-12 at the Royal Oasis Golf Resort.

Weatherly, who is the son of Cornwall College's DaCosta Cup coach and Montego Bay dentist, Dr. Dean Weatherly, was named to the team following good showings in several junior tournaments over the past year and based on recommendations from the selection and junior golf committees.
