Desmond McKenzie can bring back order
published: Thursday | July 3, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I READ the headline, 'McKenzie vows to bring back order', 06/29/2003. If Desmond McKenzie cannot bring back order to Kingston, then only Seaga can. If he, McKenzie, becomes Mayor of Kingston, I am sure he will do a good job at building consensus with all stakeholders and implement systematically the remedies he foresees as a need to bring back stability to the great city of Kingston, Jamaica. In my eyes he is still a young man, though I have known him for close to 30 years.

In a way Desmond is unassuming, kind natured, but don't test his patience or play him for a fool. He doesn't suffer fools. He respects authority that is credible and he uses intuitive shortcut analysis to make decisions.

He doesn't beat his chest; he just rolls up his sleeve and work with people, especially poor people, whom he understand more than many of his peers.

I am, etc.,
