First Global opens Montego Bay branch
published: Wednesday | July 9, 2003

FIRST GLOBAL Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Grace, Kennedy & Company, which began operations in January 2001 with one branch in New Kingston, has begun to expand with the opening of a second branch on Montego Bay's Gloucester Avenue .

Don Wehby, Chief Financial Officer, Grace, Kennedy & Company and Chief Operating Officer of the Financial Services Division, points out that this has been made possible with First Global Bank's acquisition of the retail banking portfolio of Citibank NA.

At the same time, Citibank's clients in the corporate area were invited to open accounts at First Global Bank's branch in the Life of Jamaica building in New Kingston. A significant number of these customers have transferred their accounts to First Global Bank.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

"We believe that First Global Bank's concept of personal banking has led to a high level of customer satisfaction which is sure to have considerable appeal among our new customers," Mr. Wehby said.

First Global Bank has retained Citibank's staff in Montego Bay including the former branch manager, Stephen Dear, who continues in the post he held under Citibank NA.

In addition, Dorothy Parkins, another former Citibank NA employee, who worked closely with Country Manager Peter Moses, is now a member of Wehby's team brought on to work on the expansion plans; she is assigned to the Banking Division.
