AFTER THE successful staging of the International Mecca of Style Fashion Week recently, Saint International's boss Deiwight Peters returned to Jamaica a triumphant man, having signed 12 of his models to leading agencies in the competitive European markets of London and Milan.
"It is an unprecedented and impressive accomplishment for a small agency from the Caribbean marketing black models in Europe to place so many models with leading agencies," says Humphrey V. Bennett, director of the men's division for Profile Models in London. Bennett, a Jamaican, was part of the London fashionistas who offered Saint models representation. Bennett's Profile agency signed Doren Bailey, Atiba Baker and Dionne Stephens (pictured on our cover this week).
This latest achievement, says Peters, is consistent with his plans to create a Jamaican modelling wave that would have Jamaican models being the toast of major European fashion markets.
