For a cleaner Falmouth

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM a past resident of Falmouth, now living in the UK. I come home each year and each year I get more disgusted with the state of what was once a beautiful town. I am so pleased to read that efforts are finally afoot to clean up not only the drains but the bad state of repairs of fencing in the area.
When I drive through I look about and almost feel ashamed to say 'I once lived here'. If nothing else, one thing that is needed as a matter of urgency is public conveniences to stop people (especially men) using the street corners as urinals. This practice is particularly bad in the main square.
I look forward to my visits home, but not to the 'ghettoised' state the town now seems to have become.
