Lost in the postal system
published: Wednesday | July 16, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM sure that am not the only person who has had this problem with Jamaica's postal service. I recently sent a Father's Day card to my dad with a little money (cheque) which, of course, he's yet to receive, and it has been over a month now.

I just want to know why, when only a letter is sent, it gets delivered (most of the time) but if a card is sent it somehow magically disappears. This has happened more than once.

Speaking with my family, they indicate that that's how it is. So it's accepted; no one complains and the mail keeps getting stolen. Frankly, it's wrong when money is sent home to help our family members and it gets stolen.

It seems that a lot of people back home have some nonsense belief that people abroad have it easy. Ha ha, not so at all.

It's little things like these that work your nerves making you not wanting to claim Jamaica as your home. The thievery and other things that take place are really a disgrace.

I am, etc.,

J. HILL
