THE CANADIAN High Commission has advised that effective last Mon-day, Jamaican and United States dollar visa fees have been increased for temporary resident (visitor) visas.
For persons wishing to pay in Jamaican dollars the new fees are $3,300 for single entry, $6,600 for multiple entry visa applications and $17,600 for a family of three or more. It will now cost US$55 for single entry, US$110 for multiple entry visa applications and US$292 for a family of three or more. The Canadian dollar fee, which must be an exact amount, remains unchanged. Processing fees are non-refundable.
The modification in the fee schedule is due to exchange rate changes.
Temporary resident (visitor) visa applicants are reminded that the processing fee should be paid at any local branch of Scotiabank. The bank will issue a receipt upon payment of the processing and transaction fees. This receipt will be valid for presentation at the High Commission for six months from the date of issue. Visa applicants are required to bring the fee receipt, application form and supporting documentation to the Immigration Section of the Canadian High Commission in order that an interview may be scheduled, if required.
The public is reminded that the Temporary Resident Visa Section of the Canadian High Commission is closed on Fridays.
