LAPINLAHTI, Finland, CMC:

JAMAICA'S CENTRAL American and Caribbean (CAC)

Championship 100-metre hurdles gold medallist Delloreen Ennis-London returned to Europe with a win at Finland's Savo Games this past weekend.

A week after winning the CAC title in Grenada in a season's best 12.70 seconds, Ennis-London topped her field in 13.12 seconds.

Running into a headwind of 1.3 metres-per-second, she dismissed the challenge of Mariya Kovoteyeva (13.27) to secure the win.

Ennis-London, fourth at the Sydney Olympics, is on the comeback trail after injury stalled her career following big Grand Prix wins between 2000 and 2001 at Stockholm, Zagreb, Seville, and Oregon's Prefontaine Classic.

In 2000, Ennis-London was No. 2 on the world "Performance List" behind American Gail Devers, and was No. 3 - behind Anjanette Kirkland and Devers - in 2001.

Jamaican sprinters Dwight Thomas and Winston Smith also appeared at the meet - Thomas, placing third in the men's 100 metres in 10.30 seconds, with Smith sixth in 10.47.

Saudi Arabia swept the top two spots with Jamal Al-Saffer (10.26) winning ahead of Saleem Al-Yami (10.29).
