THE EDITOR, Sir:
HOPEFULLY, I write on behalf of all Jamaican men who strongly condemn the circulation on the Internet of some nude pictures of a female.
If the 'story' surrounding the circulation is true, let me first say to all Jamaican employers that this woman is a victim. She seemed to have had no idea that these pictures would later be used against her in the most disgraceful and humiliating manner. Sad to say, this could have happened to any female and I only hope that good sense had prevailed with the employer and that you are giving her the necessary support during this embarrassing period.
To whoever did this, I want to say that you should be ashamed of yourself. You should be made to sell all you have (down to your underwear) to compensate this woman for the humiliation that you are causing her. You must be made to pay for this terrible hurt that you have caused her and I hope that every good and decent lawyer in Jamaica will quickly run to advise her of all legal recourses against you. You should be exposed so that all Jamaica can know who you are. My wish is that if and when this case begins, all Jamaicans will be kept abreast of every detail irrespective of who you are.
To the human rights and justice groups in Jamaica, I want to say that you should not be silent about this issue. It is now a public issue, which is torturing one's reputation and character. You must be vocal not only about police brutality but about issues like these.
This young lady needs our support now and we can start by discontinuing any further circulation of the mail on the Internet. If you get it, just simply delete it and not send it on. If we are serious about taking back Jamaica, then let us not allow issues like these to be pushed under the carpet while nothing is done about them. Let's stand and fight with her.
I am, etc.,
A JAMAICAN MALE
