What more evidence is needed?
published: Monday | July 21, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM a Jamaican living in Britain and recently I read in one of the national papers here a summary of a United Nations (UN) report regarding human development. According to the report, human development measured by the UN is a combination of income, life expectancy and literacy. Overall, the report emphasised that the gap between the rich and poor nations was widening and more than 50 countries had seen it's living standard drop between 1990 and 2001.

To my shock and dismay Jamaica was one of the 54 countries listed. To make matters even worse, Haiti was the only other Caribbean island. The others were mainly from Africa.

My question is, does the PNP and their supporters read these reports?

People of Jamaica, you have given the PNP enough chance to prove themselves; they have failed you in every way. What more do you all want as evidence that they cannot run the country?

The Local Government Election was a flimsy effort to show your dissatisfaction. I hope it is not too late. When people can find work, children can go to school and people can feed themselves.

I would love to hear from the PNP masses as to why they continue to vote for the PNP.

I am, etc.,
