EATJAMAICAN!

Jamaicans, wi luv 'wi' food!

Now, we're not talking 'bout any fenky fenky food either. We love hearty, rib-sticking, stay-in-your-gut-food. It may not always be elegant, but so what?

"Good Jamaican food is peasant food, unabashedly calorie-laden, (and) rich in memories for those who recall," writes Barbara Gloudon in the introduction of 'Real Taste of Jamaica' (New Edition) by Enid Donaldson-Mignotte.

In tribute to Emancipation and our 41st anniversary of independence, Food has a line up of traditional Jamaican food. Some of these, like the corn dumpling recipe from Sylvester Ayre, better known as the 'Bush Doctor' of Sligoville, St. Catherine, we're sure will bring the memories flooding back. And if you've never met a corn dumpling, well roll up your sleeves and try your hand at it.
