Not 'Fi Mi Sinting'
published: Thursday | July 31, 2003
THE EDITOR, Sir: KINDLY ALLOW me space in your newspaper to clear up a matter that has arisen from articles published in The Gleaner on Monday, July 14, 2003 which stated, 'Fi Wi Sinting set for August 1' and in The Sunday Gleaner on July 27, 'All trails lead to Fi Wi Sinting'. For the past 13 years I have been producing 'Fi Wi Sinting', a one-day festival celebrating our African Heritage, held in February of each year as part of the Black History Month celebrations. CALENDAR EVENTS Starting as a fund-raiser for the now defunct Content Model School, it has become one of the calendar events for the parish of Portland, attracting Jamaicans from all walks of life and visitors from overseas. Naturally I was swamped with telephone calls from persons trying to find out what was happening. Because the article was published in your newspaper I am using this medium to inform the public that I have nothing to do with the event planned for August 1 and that the next 'Fi Wi Sinting' will be held in February 2004, Black History Month as we continue to pay tribute to our ancestors. I am, etc., PAULINE (SISTA P. PETINAUD) Matthews Avenue Port Antonio
