THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM writing on a matter of grave concern. I need to vent my frustrations.
I am a resident of the Bahamas and as other Jamaicans do, try to get home a few times per year. The flight is direct from Nassau to Montego Bay, approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Recently, I was shocked to find out that the airfare suddenly skyrocketed to US$500+ - US$600+ return to come home. Is this madness? What is the thought process of Air Jamaica?
The airfare used to be US$200+ - US$300+. For such a short flight, why so much money?? Is it due to 9/11? Come on now...
If there is a problem with cost then limit the flights to twice per week instead of every day.
Is has now proven cheaper to go to Jamaica through the USA. More than double the mileage, significantly cheaper.
Air Jamaica has loyal customers in the Bahamas, why do they want to drive us away? I do hope that some fare restructuring is re-visited and we can move back to normalcy as soon as possible.
I am, etc.,
