'Welcome home chile'
published: Friday | August 1, 2003

THE EDITOR ,Sir:

IT IS indeed a pleasure to have Miss Lou with us here in Jamaica for our Independence celebrations.

I remember as a child I grew up listening and watching her programme 'Ring Ding'; I also enjoyed watching her quiz show for children. When the children performed on 'Ring Ding' even if what they did was not the best of performance, Miss Lou would comment, 'Clap her/him, Clap her/him man!' This was encouragement for the children who performed. It was also fun for me to listen to and sometimes recite some of Miss Lou's poems.

Miss Lou, thanks for the pleasant childhood memories, thanks for the music and most of all, thanks for keeping alive a unique aspect of our culture that is truly Jamaican.

On a personal note, Miss Lou, you have touched my life, in that I have a flare for writing poetry Thanks to you Miss Lou.

Walk good and keep on keeping on.

One Love .

I am, etc,
