THE CLARENDON police have cracked what they believe is an organised criminal gang, which is reportedly responsible for several murders, robberies and carjackings committed across six parishes. "Sunday night we raided a dance in Gimme-mi-bit and picked up a prominent member of the gang. We also found a 9-mm pistol with 15 rounds," Deputy Superintendent Terrence Bent, the officer in charge of Clarendon, told The Gleaner. INTELLIGENCE Acting on intelligence yesterday, DSP Bent said the police carried out another raid at a house in Brambury, Clarendon, where they found 100 pounds of ganja, and a number of articles believed to have been stolen. These included computers and electrical appliances, along with a licence plate which the police said belong to a stolen motor car. According to DSP Bent, the gang has been implicated in several major crimes committed in Portland, St. Mary, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester and St. James. He said the gang members have been involved in several murders in Portmore, St. Catherine, and a number of robberies between St. James and Portland.
