Hot, racy summer of fashion

MY DEARS, Kingsley Cooper and his Pulse organisation are promising fashion lovers one very hot and racy Summer of Fashion this season as he takes his Caribbean Fashion Search on the road and how!

Doves, y'all should have been at the very fab Villa Ronai a few Sundays ago when the elimination for this years' Caribbean Fashion Search was staged! Children, it was nigh unto one cauldron of young pulsating bodies as literally hundreds of fashion hopefuls turned up for the affair and it made for one absolutely ravingly fabulous party!

When it was all over, however, of the near 600 hopefuls, the judges had managed to whittle their numbers down to a more manageable 200 contestants who will vie for the red-hot opportunity to grace the worlds' catwalks, catalogues and runways in search of international stardom and celeb fabdom!

Now, to launch this year's Caribbean Fashion Search (the Jamaican leg) last Tuesday evening, the founder and chairman of the Pulse group, Fashion and style czar, Kingsley Cooper, invited leading fashion scribes, arbiters and bessies; as well as leading fashionistas and industry bigwigs to the Hilton Hotel over in New Kingston, for the launch of this year's Caribbean Fashion Week!

Children, ravishing beauties, sculpted torsos, the exotic, even the eclectic and definitely the commonplace were all there, but every single which one of the assembled contending young men and women strutting with the élan that made them all fabulous! Doves, it was like that a ballroom full of young and buzzing hopefuls, buoyed in their hopes by the recent Pulse success stories in the international marketplace!

Sweet-things, it made for a dizzyingly dazzling spectacle, and how! Aam-a-telling-yuh, it was fabulous drama and then some! Sometime during all of this hotness Kingsley Cooper took to the podium and welcomed his many guests, the contestants, their potential sponsors and dressers and outlined the company's schedule of events leading up to the finals!

WHETTING THE APPETITE

Oh what a night! A most delicious whetting of the appetite for a summer of fashion! And with a number of other scheduled appearances slated for mid august including the semi-finals showcase and fashion party for Villa Ronai on the 10th, plus the expected arrival of the contestants from neighbouring islands slated for August 29, Dovecakes, it will indeed be one hot summer, and we mean fashionably so!

Among those attending were: Ambassador Tony Hylton, QC; head of the Jamaican Bar Association, the charming Hillary Phillips; the beautiful Dawn Azan; Frank Rosheuevel; Guerney Beckford; noted lawyer Helen McLean; Canadian Embassy official Vivian Monteith: the gorgeous Romae Gordon and her sis, the beautiful Dionne Gordon; noted actor and singer Crown Prince Miller; Pamela Miller; Don and Irena Patterson; Mark Weinberger; Novia McDonald-Whyte; Miss Jamaica Universe Michelle Lecky; hot designer Simone Michelle Clarke form the SIIM collection; Kevin Bourke; the fabulous SuperModel of the Caribbean Janelle Robinson, who jetted in from Toronto, from assignment with Ford Modelling Agency; Camille Stevenson; hot new male designer Bill Edwards, from the Bill Edwards line; plus a host and then some of fashion hopefuls!

And Dovecakes, speaking of things fashionable, the red-hot international covergirl, Nadine Willis, jets into the island this weekend to celebrate her birthday come Tuesday! Now the word is, it will be a double, as the red-hot model will be joining with the GM of the Pegasus Hotel, Eldon Bremner, who also celebrates his birthday this Tuesday and the two will share a special party over there at the Fashion Cafe at 38a Trafalgar Road, on Tuesday in what promises to be a show-stopper!

And, My Dears, Destination Jamaica is still fashionable, especially among the international jet-set and who's who of fab-society the world over as the buzz over in the west, is that the fabulously wealthy Britisher Bryan Reynolds has jetted in from his London home and is now ensconced over there at his Round Hill estate, where he and friends plan to spend the summer. More anon, but party on and remember living well is the only revenge!
