Put country's interest before political party
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE LEADERS of the two major political parties are soon to relinquish their posts as head of their respective parties.

Thank you Miss Lou
THE EDITOR, Sir: LET ME express my delight about the return of Miss Lou to Jamaica. I know that the phrase "national treasure" is a often over-used one but in Miss Lou's case it's right on the money.

Sex and decadence
THE EDITOR, Sir: SEXUAL PROMISCUITY has reached alarming proportions with most men regarding women as targets to satisfy their uncontrollable lusts regardless of the moral and social implications.

More than hollow rhetoric needed
THE EDITOR, Sir: SOMETIMES A complex problem yields to a simple solution. Sometimes it doesn't.

Fix Half-Way Tree's chaotic traffic mess
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE TRAFFIC authorities have allowed Half-way Tree to become a lawless, chaotic mess.

Stop the slide now
THE EDITOR, Sir: WASN'T IT Minister John Junor, who, commenting on the situation in which several nurses and doctors were migrating to the US, UK, and Canada, claimed that there was "no problem"...

'Redemption Song', bigger but not better
THE EDITOR, Sir: I MUST say I am appalled that a sculpture of that type has been installed at the Emancipation Park.

Not quite so, Melville Cooke
THE EDITOR, Sir: I MUST add my support to Mr Robert Germain as expressed in his letter about columns written by Melville Cooke.

Instill respect, discipline in our children
THE EDITOR, Sir: I HAVE read the different views in The Gleaner (letters to the editor) regarding the cheerleading competition which Immaculate won.

Think twice, Desmond McKenzie
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WAS listening to the news recently and heard Councillor Desmond McKenzie, the newly-appointed Mayor of Kingston, mention that a six-week course was not sufficient qualification.

New water treatment facility needed
THE EDITOR, Sir: IN THE debate surrounding the closure and redevelopment of the Hampden Sugar and Rum facility, there is an added major benefit, which could come with the new facility, to which no one has alluded.
