THE EDITOR, Sir: I MUST add my support to Mr Robert Germain as expressed in his letter about columns written by Melville Cooke. In addition to his racially biased opinions, to which of course, he is entitled, I disapprove strongly of his stated views on voting. He has said that he has not registered to vote, and has no intention of ever voting. In my opinion, to which I am entitled, he is a dropout from society, and since he is taking no part in the choice of our government and in our society, he is not entitled to voice any criticisms of that society. People get the government they deserve and not voting opens the way to despotism and tyranny. In addition, I am continually saddened nowadays by the open and virulent racial prejudice voiced by so many in Jamaican society as represented by the writers in The Gleaner.
