Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Take corrective measures now
THE EDITOR, Sir: AS WE celebrate our Emancipation and Independence in the current climate where increasing abuse of children in our country is a frightening reality...

'Redemption Song' is picture perfect
THE EDITOR, Sir: FOR THE last few days since the erection of the 'Redemption Song' statue in Emancipation Park there has been so much bickering about it.

Respect each other's opinion
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS with great interest that I have been following the debate on the appropriateness of the statue recently erected at Emancipation Park.

Shifting blame won't help
THE EDITOR, Sir: I REFER to the article concerning the most recent death from gastroenteritis, that you placed on the front page of The Gleaner of August 4.

Foul language
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE FOUL language saga is in the air again. I would like to know how is a paid reggae show different from a movie theatre? ...

When will the baton pass?
THE EDITOR, Sir: PLEASE ALLOW me space to comment on an article dated August 3, 2003 in The Gleaner. Here I quote Mr Smith: "Whenever the vacancy becomes available then I am obviously one that is qualified to make myself available."

Shame on 'Flair'
THE EDITOR, Sir: I MUST voice my utter disgust with the pictures displayed on the topic "Designer Vagina" in Monday's (Aug. 4.) Flair.

Clean up Montego Bay
THE EDITOR, Sir: MY HUSBAND, a travel writer, and I visited Jamaica two weeks ago for Reggae Sumfest. While the concert was okay I was appalled by the squalid conditions of the town of Montego Bay.

Switched off Cable & Wireless
THE EDITOR, Sir: WE HAVE been bombarded with ads in the press to 'Switch On' to Cable and Wireless' new cellular network. Their new system boasts a wide array of features and services including international roaming.
