Inspiring art
published: Tuesday | August 12, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The first time I passed Emancipation Park and saw the figures I burst out laughing. The nudity does not bother me. To me they looked like they were still in chains - the arms firmly at their sides.

One of your editorials last week said we should look at their expression. Now these figures are eight feet tall with faces turned upwards. I find no inspiration viewing them. For inspiration one should go view the two works of art (naked man and woman) at the PCJ building on Trafalgar Road, New Kingston. They were done by one of the Watson family. Those are inspiring!!

I am, etc.
