Serious tax collection
published: Wednesday | August 13, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

DO YOU think the government really wants to increase tax collection? I think not. When you look at the different methods of payment available to us for paying C&W bills, you have to come to this conclusion.

Persons have no excuse for not paying C&W; they can pay by the Internet, Paymaster, Bill Express, banks (using cards or cash), C&W offices, and tele-banking, among other means.

On the other hand, there are numerous excuses for not paying taxes and NHT mortgages, such as long lines, cash payment only (NHT), and poor customer service.

Dr. Omar Davies, the Minister of Finance, needs to collaborate with Mr. Philip Paulwell, the Minister of Commerce, Science and Technology, and others, to implement the appropriate technology if he wants to increase the country's revenues. These people need to have vision, they need to look ahead, after all, they are our leaders.

I am, etc.,

Damion King
