Cleaning teeth is expensive business

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The article about pensioners and the prices they pay for dental work was surprising. Upon learning that having your teeth cleaned costs $3,500 (or US$64), I pulled the bill for my last cleaning which was US$55. And I live in the US and earn US wages. Was there a typo in the article?
